Winery Farmhouse Quality Wines Barolo Cuneo Piedmont Italy

Barolo Via Bergesia, 6 +39 0173 564611 +39 0173 564612

The many guests who arrive at our winery every day cannot help but notice that they are literally surrounded in every direction by vineyards. The view is breath-taking, unique not only because the Langhe is one of the world's most renowned winegrowing areas but also because our own Cantine in Barolo is the focus of a concentration of wine production practically unequalled in Italy.

The figures relative to the 2006 harvest tell the story: more than 4,060 hectares of vineyards tended by over 2,500 growers organised into 14 winemaking cellars.

This impressive production capability allows us to pursue a truly rigorous selection process and to offer wines of the highest quality as well as some extremely distinctive and individual bottlings. Our product line includes wines recognised world-wide as well as native varietals known only locally, but the philosophy remains the same: only wines from Piedmont, only wines that are DOC and DOCG!

That philosophy begins in the vineyard: we require low yields per vine in order to obtain good sugar levels, intense colour, and the fullest flavour extraction. Professional viticultural consultants work closely with the grapegrowers, following carefully-designed procedures requiring, for example, selecting vineyards with exceptional sun exposure and soils, rigorous pruning levels, reduced pesticide use, cluster thinning, and later harvests, where appropriate, to improve ripeness levels. That same rigour is then applied in our winemaking facilities by expert production staffs.

Grapes from the larger estates are vinified separately, with that estate name on the bottle label. Fruit from the smaller estates or from individual cru vineyards are blended, and the wines are given titles taken from the literary works of Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio.

We invite everyone to visit us in Barolo: it is indeed a rare occasion when you can witness, from high above on a flying passageway, all the steps of winemaking, from fermentation through ageing and bottling!

Terre da Vino underlines its strong bond and high respect for the territory in all its expression and activity.

The production is made up of exclusively DOC and DOCG wines from Piedmont with a great attention to the autochthonal vine varieties.

The grapes coming from the smaller estates or from individual vineyards are blended and the wines are given titles taken from the literary works of Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio, two writers from Piedmont. E.g. Monferrato Bianco "Tra Donne Sole", Barbera d'Asti "La Luna e i Falò" (The Moon and the Bonfires), Barolo "Paesi Tuoi" (Your People), Barbaresco "La Casa in Collina" (House on the Hill), Piemonte Moscato Passito "La Bella Estate", Langhe Nebbiolo "La Malora" and Barolo Chinato "Il Diavolo sulle Colline" (The Devil in the Hills).

The architectural project of our Cellars in Barolo is modern and high-tech but flows also along with forms and materials of the traditional houses (Cascine) of Langhe landscape.

Many national and international magazines talked about our new winery according to the well-renowned theme "Wine & Architecture" e.g. L'Arca 160, Panorama, Casaviva, Arkitekton, Abitare and Ottagono.

THE BUILDING: the manufacturing plant covers a total surface of about 5,000 square metres, built on a ground of about 25,000 sq. m. The Cellars has been realized in laminated wood with a highly distinctive curved copper roof.

THE OFFICES: the building hosting the offices is separated from wine-making and bottling stages and flows along with the forms and materials of the traditional houses of Langhe landscape. The last floor hosts an auditorium, where meetings and conventions or tastings are held: here the panoramic view above Langhe hills and the details of the wooden ceiling are spectacular.

THE BARRIQUES REFINING HALL: pride of the company is this hall where the wines mature in a carefully created air-conditioning system (temperature and humidity are always under control). A total surface of 1,200 sq. m. can give hospitality to 3,000 oak barrels.

THE CELLARAGE: on a surface of 1,200 square metres are held the pressurized steel tanks which are warm-conditioned: the temperature can always be controlled automatically during all fermentation processes.

THE BOTTLING CENTRE: 600 sq. m. for a bottling system conceived with the aim of obtaining the highest hygienic-sanitary level and the highest level of quality control.

THE COLD STORE: 1,500 sq. m. to host the bottles at a temperature of about 15° C. in order to protect the typical character of the wine.

THE LABORATORY: to accomplish to the self control system of the quality (HACCP)
