Description

Colle Manora is located on a hill top in the gently rolling countryside of the Monferrato, at the centre of a natural amphitheatre protected to the north and the east by woods of acacia, oak and wild cherry trees.

The property straddles the territories of Quargnento and Fubine Monferrato, extending over approximately 75 hectares of which 20 hectares are planted to vines.

The mesoclimate, the soils of Miocene clay and the position of the vines on south facing slopes all contribute to the creation of a natural environment which is ideal for wine growing.

While maintaining full respect for the viticultural traditions of the oasis of the Monferrato, we have planted a number of innovative cultivars alongside the local Barbera.

Ever conscious of the outstanding personality of the land, the role of premium international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet and the innovative Albarossa, is to add a note of extra complexity to selected wines from the estate.

The philosophy is to focus exclusively on the production of high quality wines, concentrating above all on vineyard management and meticulous care for the wines. We use entirely natural and environmental respecting systems of pest and disease management.

Yields are rigorously controlled from vineyard level down to that of individual bunch weight through short pruning and green harvesting. Low yields maximise the potential of the vines and allow them to express their aromas to the full.

The wines are made in a modern tecnologically advanced facility.

The vinification cycle is supervised at all stages by the highly respected oenologist Dr. Donato Lanati. Selected wines are fermented and aged in small French barrels.

At Colle Manora we believe in allowing all the time necessary in wood to bring a wine to complete maturity, but consider the barrique as a piece of cellar equipment like any other, and remain convinced that oak flavours should in no way dominate the varietal character, the purity and intensity of the fruit or the flavour and the aroma of the wines.
