Griante

Description

Small town in the province of Como, located on the Western shore of the Lake Como in front of the promontory of Bellagio, one of the most attractive corners of the "Larian triangle", Griante is a pleasant tourist resort on the Riviera Azaleas, famous for the pleasantness of the climate and the beautiful landscape.
Of great historical and architectural interest are the many villas built here between the XVIII and XIX centuries, such as: Villa Margherita (owned by the family of publishers Ricordi), Villa Collina, Villa Giuseppina, Villa Norelli and Villa Carlotta. In the quiet of Villa Margherita, Giuseppe Verdi composed the most beautiful arias from La Traviata, and Stendhal, enchanted by the environments, he implemented part of the scenario as scenes of his literary masterpiece "The Charterhouse of Parma.
Cadenabbia, a district of the town of Griante, which overlooks the lake features an important series of hotels of prestige and luxurious villas.

Not to miss in the nearby: the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie.
