Description

The Antonio ed Elio Monti farm was already firmly established in the nineteenth century when it produced wine which were created and developed aver the years on the family owned lands situated on the gentle Abruzzi hills of Controguerra (prov. TE).

From the original activity which was a strictly private concern, even though it was appreciated by many connoisseurs, the productive situation of the Monti Family soon made the successful decision of enlarging their business with the aim of offering a much wider public the opportunity of tastiIngng and knowing their wines. The bottling, due to the introduction on the home and international markets, began therefore around the middle of twentieth century. The initial production of 2000 bottles reached, towards the end of nineties the remarkable number of 80000 bottles. Such an important development is certified also by the increase of vineyard: from the original 3 Ha to the present day 13 Ha.

The vineyards of the Monti family, composed of sandy clayey soil, include Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sangiovese as well as autochthonous Pecorino and Passerina. Surrounded by the splendid, luxuriant grapevines the Monti brothers in person have been passionately taking care of the birth and maturing of their wing for more than 50 years. Over the years, more technologies and Riccardo Cotarella wine maker's precious collaboration have contributed to improving and rendering the family production more and more, prestigious, without erasing any of the traditional enthusiasm and particular attention of the two brothers.

The Monti wines are greatly appreciated both in Italy as well as abroad, however the greater part of the firm's wine production is introduced and distributed on the markets of the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and Danmark.

For the Monti brothers, and for their daughters, Emilia and Bruna, perfect wine has always been an indestructible and irremissible family tradition.
