Description

Corte d'Aibo is situated at approximately 20kms from Bologna and at the centre of the Parco Regionale dell'Abbazia.

The visitor is attracted to the area by the wonderful views over endless vineyards, wheatfields and fruit orchards, where agricolture and unspoilt nature are in harmony with the gentle hills.

The red coloured buildings stand out from the green of the vines, the main house dating back to the 16th century was originally a fortified tower and was later transformed into a convent as can be seen by the vaulted ceiling and the numerous cubby holes in the thick walls.

The land called d'Aibo was already mentioned in ancient scriptures dating back to the year 500 ad. These tell of how the monks living in the monastry at Monteveglio bought several plots of land in the area called Aibo vineyard and therefore prove that winemaking in this area was already a reality such a long time ago.

At the end of the 1980's the farm was bought by a group of young winemakers who with painstaking dedication restored the existing vines, planted new high intensity ones and built a new wine cellar thus enhancing this wonderful area.

The production of organic wines is the farms main activity. The wine is made only with the farms own grapes and by using the latest technology according to the rules set down by the Italian

Organic Agriculture Association and is bottled on site.

The farm has been fully recognised by the AIAB since 1991.

Because of its very favourable position on the foothills, the farm pursues a careful research for quality and typicality of the wines and has been awarded several national and international prizes and prestigious acknowledgements.

The most important wines are :

Pignoletto, Pignoletto classico, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Barbera.

Holiday Farmhouse

The farm has 12 comfortable double rooms all with private bathrooms. Several have a sofa bed for children or extra guests.

All the rooms have been recently refurbished maintaining the original features of the old building and there are some pleasant areas outside where you can relax looking out over the green hillside.

The farms restaurant is well known for its genuine good quality food which is served with the farm's own wine.

There is also a recently converted barn available for private ceremonies, weddings, banquets, meetings etc..
