Naz-Sciaves

Description

Naz-Sciaves (Natz-Schabs in German) is a picturesque town in the province of Bolzano, Located on a sunny plateau between the rivers Eisack and Rienza, along the boundary line that separates the Val d'Isarco from the Val Pusteria. It is famous for the production of excellent apples, thanks for the ideal climate. It is the perfect location for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday and long outdoor walks to explore suggestive and idyllic landscapes, especially when the apple trees are flowering. During the winter period, indeed, skiers can have fun along the slopes of the nearby ski areas (Plose, Gitschberg-Jochtal, Plan de Corones and Val Gardena-Sella Ronda).
Thanks to its geographical position, lovers of history and fine art can quickly reach Bressanone, the city of the bishops, the Abbay of Novacella (Neustift) and Rodengo.
The place name is documented for the first time in 1050 and probably has pre-roman origins.
Mussolini's Fascist Government made built here about fourty bunkers in order to control the area and prevent access to Bressanone.
