Villanova d'Ardenghi

Description

A small town in the eastern province of Pavia, Villanova d'Ardenghi is mainly an agricultural center. It belonged to the monastery of Santa Maria Teaodate of Pavia since the X century and in 1250 the town was already known with the name of Villanova de Ardenghis. From the XV to the XVII century it was assigned to the Eustachi Family of Pavia, feudal lords of most of the Lomellina area, and from 1666 to the Peverelli of Milan. Like all the other realities of Lomellina area, in 1713, it passed under the dominion of the Savoy.
Of major interest are a series of paintings by Remo Faggi of 1989, preserved within the Parish Church, among which worth of mention are:
- "the SS. Sacramento", "Jesus and the children" and "Jesus in the vegetable garden".
