Description

Atripalda, located not too far from Avellino, was founded by Sabatio, Noah's grandnephew, according to the tradition; however its name derives from Truppualdo Racco, who run the feud set east of Avellino county, during the IX century. It is one of the most profitable commercial centre of the whole province and it boasts centuries of history whose roots date back to the city of Abellinum, important proof of which was discovered in the district of Civita, such as 2 km of city walls, fantastic example of Roman opus reticulatus, the relics of a Pompeian style villa, of some houses and Thermal baths. It is possible to see two different urban settlements, the Roman "Civita" and the Medieval one, located near the Sabato river. It is the ideal place for long cycling, thanks to its relaxing landscape and its history.
