Valle Intelvi
With views to both Lake Como and Lake Lugano, the Intelvi Valley still shows traces of the deep artistic culture which made it famous all over Europe between the Middle and the Baroque Ages. In almost every village there are monuments worth visiting: Romanesque churches (at Cerano, S. Fedele, Laino, Scaria di Lanzo) often with frescoes from the fifteenth and sixteenth centry, and above all, Baroque buildings (such as the wonderful Santa Maria in Scaria decorated with works by the Brothers Carloni, and San Lorenzo with stuccoes by G.B. Barberini). The mountains of Valle Intelvi are also a popular walking and winter sports area.
