Wine and Traditions Festival Amalfi Coast
"Taste" was the motto which stood for the "Festa del Vino e delle Tradizioni" (Wine and Traditions Festival). The Festival took place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August 2007 in Gete (a district of Tramonti) and was a great success! It was a mixture of tastes: delicious recipes from Tramonti cooking tradition, Salvatore De Riso's latest creation "sogno di mezza estate" (midsummer night's dream), the strong taste of the wine produced by three local winemakers.
The first glass of wine we sipped was "Cardamone IGT", produced by Azienda Agricola Reale; it is a dark red, strong and intense wine, derived from "tintore" and "per' è palumm" grapes (autochthonous grapes).
The second one was "Costa d'Amalfi DOC", produced by Azienda Giuseppe Apicella; it is a rosé, light and scented wine, derived from "sciascinoso" and "piedirosso" grapes (autochthonous grapes).
The third one was "Tramonti rosso Costa d'Amalfi DOC" produced by Azienda Agricola San Francesco; it is a strong and vigorous red wine, very similar to Reale's "Cardamone" under this point of view, derived from "tintore", "piedirosso" and "aglianico" grapes.
The production of a good wine is a real pleasure as it enjoy the sight, the smell, and the mouth!
"Nunc vino pellite curas" (cure the worries with the wine) said the latin poet Oratio: infact, a good glass of wine let you put aside problems and preoccupations at least for a while, and most important, it also permits you to face them with more force and vigor!
Let's have a drink!
