Sant'Alfonso Fam House Furore

"Sant'Alfonso" Farm House - Via Sant'Alfonso, 6 - Furore (SA). Tel +39 089830515 www.agriturismosantalfonso.it

The "Agriturismo Sant'Alfonso" is set in a rural environment, among lemon orchard, olive trees and Mediterranean scrub vegetation, surrounded by terraces sloping down to the sea; it seems an oasis of peace and interior wellness, a perfect combination between a breathtaking view of the Amalfi coast and the sensation of tranquility, typical of the strict contact with the nature.

It is built in an ancient monastery (in fact, traces of frescoes, tanks and wells are still visible, in addition to the nice little church dedicated to St. Alfonso Maria de' Liguori), in one of the most charming location of the Amalfi coast for its savage beauty. Michela and her husband Nicola will warmly welcome you, showing you both the typical local hospitality and the several fragrances of the Neapolitan cuisine.

The predominant elements of the comfortable and warm dining room (heated by a wood-burning stove and a fireside during the winter) are the terracotta tiles, spaced out by ancient majolica tiles from Vietri sul Mare (whose elegant décor is become the logo of the "Agriturismo Sant'Alfonso"), wooden furniture, the ancient vaults and arches. During the summer, guests can lunch or dine on the terrace, where it is possible to enjoy an unique view of the Divine coast.

After sipping a glass of Prosecco wine, we had a rich and varied appetizer, composed by: salami, dairy products from Agerola, "caciotta" (a typical local fresh cheese) with wild fennel and rocket, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, potato crocchè and many rustic cakes (with prickly lettuce, with artichokes, with ricotta cheese...): the freshness of the ingredients and the homemade production are the main characteristics of this cuisine. A jug of homemade red wine introduced us to a good roasted T-bone with salad and fried potatoes: the delicacy of the meat firmly revealed its genuineness (Michela, the owner, confirmed to me that it was local meat from Agerola). The dinner was finished off by a tasty of homemade "ricotta e pere" (cheese and pear) cake and a liqueur glass of local grappa.

It was really a pleasant evening, thanks both to the homely and sincere atmosphere and to the delicious dishes! The warm and sincerely welcome of the hosts is a direct consequence of the genuine and sincere nature that will welcome you in this little corner of the Amalfi coast.

The Agriturismo Sant'Alfonso will sure become one of your favourite places, once tasted its cuisine!
