Church of Holy Cross or I Cappuccini
Out of the hexagonal spot, in Crispi square, was rised the Capuchins' friary, after the earthquake of 1693 and founded in the old site in 1580. The church is part of the friary and includes precous, even small-sized, works of art. It houses a fine wooden "ciborio", carved in the '60s of the XVII century by friar Giuseppe from Ragusa and positioned on the high altar. That's a great wooden apparatus surmounted by a polyptyc and the Holy Cross Glorification is placed at its core. This one is a refined painting by the Flemish painter Franz van de Kasteele. On the polyptyc's side paintings are represented the Virgin and the martyrs Venera and Lucia and St. Francesco and Corrado. In the first chapel, on the right hand, the church is guarding St. Giuseppe's Ecstasy by Giuseppe Sequenzia from Noto, who designed it in 1706.
