The Places near Anghiari

Anghiari is a medieval village castled on the Tuscan hills, few miles away from the green Umbria. In its old town centre among lanes and squares you can find the warm welcome of "I Bastioni".

For some days you can forget everyday labours, be fascinated by the wonderful landscapes and breathe art and history.

The lucky position of the village allows to be near cities such as: Florence (50 miles), Arezzo (20 miles), Perugia (40miles), and at the same time enjoy the quiet, the peace and the excellent cooking of tuscan countryside.

At the foot of the village on June the 29th, 1440 took place an impressive battle between the Mialnese, commanded by Niccolò Piccinino, and the Florentines remained famous with the name of "Battagliadi Anghiari" and depicted, among others by Leonardo da Vinci. In the range of 10 miles were born: Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca, Luca Pacioli and Baldaccio.

Land of artists and soldiers of fortune, Anghiari still preserves an intact medieval charm that has availed itself the prestigious national award "Bandiera Arancione" (orange flag awarding the nicest villages in Italy), synonymous of culture, history and we add, quality of life.
