"Il Villino" is a brand new bed-and-breakfast, part of a fine, recently-built villa set in a pinewood. It is owned by Cristina and Biagio Paolicelli, both teachers, whose aim is to provide warm, informal hospitality. It is only 2 minutes from the centre of Matera and from its famous historical quarters, the Sassi, a Unesco World Heritage site.
The apartment, 43 sq.m., has every comfort and is surrounded by 4000 sq.m of pinewood on a hillside regarded as one of the finest areas of the town, between the health-giving slope known as "Bagno del Sole", where there was once a heliotherapy holiday camp, and the wildlife reserve of San Giuliano with its large artificial lake. The whole area is ideal for families and nature-lovers and for cycling holidays. The apartment has a cosy patio area equipped with tables and a gazebo, overlooking the surrounding countryside and the beautiful natural spectacle of the Lucanian Apennine mountains.
The road to "Il Villino" is in the district known as Pozzo Misseo, on the link road from the Matera Centro junction off the SS 7 bypass to the centre of the town. The location is ideal for getting to any part of the town or to the surrounding areas, avoiding town-centre traffic.
Relaxation, silence, clean air, easy access and privacy: these are some of the advantages of the B&B "Il Villino". Welcome home.
