Record of an agricultural enterprise based in Sant'Anna of Monteu Roero, are to be founded in old registers, stored in the historical archives of Monteu Roero Town Hall, which testify to the fact that as far back as 1670 Giovanni Domenico Negro was the owner of a house with an oven, threshing floor, cellar and vineyards. Despite the passing of the years, the Negro estate has been kept in tact so that today it covers a total of 50 hectares, mostly given over to vine-growing (48 Hectares). The result of a careful blend of innovation and tradition, result in the production of impeccable wines, well-placed to win lasting favour in Italy and through out the world.
The AZ. AGRICOLA NEGRO ANGELO E FIGLI produces the typical wines of the Roero: Roero Arneis DOC, Roero DOC, Langhe Favorita DOC, Barbera d'Alba DOC, Birbet and Langhe Dolcetto DOC, crus of each wines are also produced. The area in which tre Azienda Negro is located, the Roero, brings together unique factors that account for the wines grown here. At Cascina Riveri, in the heart of the Roero, you can find the cellars where the wines are fermented, come to maturity and are aged and also the tasting room for the people who come to get to know the wine-maker and his history.
Here Giovanni Negro works with the help of all his family: His wife Marisa, three sons, Gabriele, Angelo and Giuseppe and one daughter Emanuela. This union of technology, tradition and joung and old generations, results in the creation of enjoyable and original wines, with strong personalities and complex structure.
