The Drusian farm lies in the "Route of Prosecco and wines from the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene" on hills long established for their wine-making tradition, and which now are known for the production of Prosecco: its wines are guaranteed by the Producer's Consortium for Prosecco from Conegliano and Valdobbiadene.
The Drusian family has been producing Prosecco wine for three generations.
It all started with Grandfather Giuseppino in the middle of the Nineteenth Century.
At the time, he was producing 600 hectolitres a year, and was considered one of the largest producers of "still" Prosecco, it was not yet customary to make sparkling wine.
His son Rino followed on up untill 1984, after which Francesco
has followed on.
It is thanks to him that certain technological innovations were made, including the production of sparkling wine, introduced in 1986.
Since 1998, the new winery is at San Giacomo di Valdobbiadene, in the heart of 40 hectares of vineyard and is equipped with extremely modern means of making and bottling wine.
The production at the moment is about 600.000 bottles a year of Prosecco and Cartizze; thus, it is limited in quantity and of an extremely high quality.
The Drusian family secret is in their love of the land and wine, in the passion they show for their work, and in the discriminating use of the most modern technologies.
It is essential to note that each step of the process performed with care: no pesticides or insecticides are used on the vines and only organic and not chemical fertilizers are employed.
Grapes are harvested manually and then pressed at no higher pressure than one bar, so as not to affect the quality of the most.
After being processed, the wine is stored in low temperature vats and bottled without oxygen, so as to maintain it fresh and youthful, with a rich flowery fragrance and fruity flavour.
