The Villa was built in the early 19th century by a wealthy merchant from Genoa who had fallen in love with a Chinese girl during one of his commercial journeys. During its 200 years of life the Villa Pagoda, with its exciting Eastern character, was frequently witness to accentric lifestyles, becoming "the" meeting place in Genoa for famous personalities and home for magnificent parties.
