The Trattoria della Posta is located in Monforte d'Alba, near S.Anna, in the very heart of Langhe, at few kilometres away from Barolo.
The countryside house, new seat of the restaurant, has been completely restored and furnished by the chef and owner Gianfranco Massolino, in the desire to reproduce the warmth and the charm of Piedmont's old countryside in a new and elegant environment.
During the summer, besides the 45 seats inside the restaurant, there are 30 more outside, under a veranda with a view on Langa hills.
All year round the Trattoria della Posta is frequented by local clients but above all by travellers looking for langhe's authentic tastes and by producers and agent in the wine and food field.
The philosophy underlying Gianfranco Massolino's cuisine, helped by his mother Elvira and his valid staff, consists in reproducing the great classical recipes of Langhe and Monferrato territories especially-recipes improved to make dishes more elegant and digestible.
Recipes, handed down for generations, keep their own authentic tastes and simplicity. The care for ingredients - especially mushrooms and truffles - is outstanding.
Along with Piedmont's traditional recipes obviously proposed in according to the suitable season, Gianfranco Massolino likes to propose international cuisine's great classics, especially fish and foie gras.
Service is also characterised by a high professionality and the greatest care for everything without changing the Trattoria della Posta's traditional attitude - warm and informal - that has characterised it since ever.
The wine list offers a choice of 700 wines. The outmost care is devoted to local wines, especially the great wines of Langhe. Monforte is indeed one of the town of the Barolo wine-producers.
There are also as many as 300 wines produced in other Italian region and in the best centres abroad. In order to provide the client with the widest range of choices, for some wines not only the whole bottle but also a single glass or half a bottle are always available.
