Description

The ancient farm Parrina is a historical estate in the Tuscany Maremma. In this land, a natural oasis, we produce fruit and vegetable of high quality preserving the environment and using driven and integrated fight.

Crops include an area of about 200 hectares, of which 55 are intended to vineyards, 40 to fruit production, 20 to the horticultural, 22 to olive groves and the remaining are divided between arable land and growing nursery. Parrina of the lands have been cultivating for generations with care, looking at tradition and relying on new technologies in order to maximize the potential of this extraordinary place. This is probably the reason for the excellence of the products we collect every year: organic fruits and vegetables, olive oil, cheeses and famous wines Parrina.

The company produces Parrina DOC wines since 1971: white and red. The range includes fresh and bright wines and others, aged in wood, more complex and structured. The red wines are based on the Sangiovese grape variety, some such as red Muraccio and Reserve are a product of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Among the white wines we produce an Ansonica 100% , a Vermentino 100% and others as the White Parrina obtained from a blending of Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon.

The Parrina cultivates 65 hectares of vineyards, concentrated in a limited area, of both red and white grape varieties. The climate, characterized by sea winds, with hot summers and rainy autumns and spring weather trends, is ideal for perfect ripening and the conservation of the fruit until harvest time in early autumn. The traditional wine species for the red and rosè wines is Sangiovese, for the white wines Trebbiano, Vermentino and Ansonica. The introduction of innovative wine species came from a passion for research into the potential of this marvelous small area and its unique characteristics, a source of wines of everincreasing quality.

Recognition of the Doc Parrina Rosso and Bianco dates to 1971, but two changes in the certification rules, one in 1986 and the other in 1993, also recognized the Rosè and ,later, the Rosso riserva. At a later date the right to add cabernet and merlot to the grape blend of red wine, and Chardonnay and sauvignon to the white, was also recognized.

The Farmhouse

The rooms are located in the old villa, which has always hosted the owners and their employees. The building, dating back to 1200, has taken the present appearance in 1800. Each room retains the name of its former occupier and its original forniture, is equipped with air-conditioning and private bathroom.

Strongly wanted the choice to keep intact the historicity of the place not putting in the rooms television and telephone. Those who wish can take advantage of these services in public areas of the farm such as the lounge and meeting rooms located on the ground floor. The other rooms available to visitors are the reading room and terrace on the second floor, the splendid porch that overlooks the garden of the farm and our pool surrounded by rows of Sangiovese.
