There was once a medieval grotto tired of being a workshop where ropes were made. It was an ambitious and rebellious grotto, and wanted to do something different and meet new people. One day, just by chance, Alfredo happened by and the grotto realized that this was the chance of a lifetime. She turned on all her charm and he succumbed to her harsh beauty and decided to turn those unique premises into something special. The seventies were drawing to a close when the grotto at the edge of the cliff became an unusual exclusive restaurant: "Le grotte del funaro" (The ropemaker's grottoes).A cuisine that combined creativity and tradition, quality products, excellent wines, and premises with a charm all their own, helped make this unique place an immediate success.The grotto is now happy, with lots of company and people who appreciate this exceptional site and couldn't be happier enjoying the exquisite dishes prepared by Alfredo and his wife Sandra.
