Hotel Villa S. Michele, opened on April 2009, is located in the main square of Carmignano and it is dipped into Tuscan hills. The area of Carmignano has always been protagonist of ancient traditions, from the original dried figs, to the ancient macaroons, to the famous red wine "Carmignano" DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Place Name - the oldest in Italy, ordered by Grand Duke Cosimo III de 'Medici in 1716 ), to end with the extra-virgin olive oil of Montalbano "Toscano" DOC.
Starting from our Hotel it is possible to visit the very close local farms where you can have wine, oil and cheeses tasting or buy typical products.
From the panoramic terrace and from the rooms provided with balcony you can enjoy a unique and beautiful overview: the green Tuscan hills and the "Rocca di Carmignano" (Carmignano ancient fortress). In just five minutes you can reach the Church of Carmignano, where it is kept, now fully restored, the extraordinary painting "Visitation", by Jacopo Carucci, known as The Pontormo.
The Hotel was born from the restoration of the building which dates back to late 1500. This work has kept the style and classicism of the seven - eighteenth century, when the building belonged to prestigious families of notables from Carmignano. The restoration was carried out with the most advanced technologies of bio-building and especially the breakfast room and the Hotel's bar are located in a evocative and typically Tuscan setting, with characteristic vaulted ceilings of recovered bricks.
