Silence. Pureness. Suspension.
Detachment as the new dimension of true luxury.
History as an added value: the occasion to live today's world in a less frenzied perspective.
Total lack of cacophony, in a rarefied atmosphere.
NUN Assisi Relais & Spa Museum is a place of the mind and the body hidden in the city's ancient and private heart, with a view on the Rocca Maggiore and Minore and on the hills of the Subasio mount.
An exclusive five-star retreat, it is the result of an accurate restoration of a former Benedictine nunnery. White, synonymous with pureness, and natural materials, the sign of a conscious re-discovery of roots, define the esthetic of the project, at once light and solid, assertive yet not overbearing. For its history and its structure, NUN is a rather unique space: here the layering of eras gains an atmospheric, architectonic quality. The careful recovery of antique elements, seamlessly integrated into the new structure, makes NUN a place bursting with memories in an eminently non-stereotyped way.
NUN is Relais, Restaurant and Spa Museum. The three self-standing ventures are intertwined.
The Relais is housed in what was antiquely the Benedictine nunnery of Santa Caterina, which was founded in 1275. The 18 rooms, each one unique, result from a conversion of the cellars, and are characterized by diaphanous furniture and tactile materials, from the pietra serena stone of the finishes to the linen of the sheets. Each apartment is chiseled to perfection: frescoes or antique details make the space cozy and exclusive; a keen but non-intrusive use of technology ensures maximum comfort.
The Restaurant, with vaulted interiors and a vast outside space hosted where originally was the nunnery's cloister, is characterized by a distilled, dreamy atmosphere. White furniture is mixed with stone and wood, creating a harmonious path between past and present. Not differently, chef Mirko Nochetti reinterprets the local culinary tradition, rich in contrasts and peculiarities, in a contemporary way.
The Spa Museum, finally, is the center of NUN. Housed underground and measuring 1300 square meters, it is a place of purification where water turns into a sacred element. Surprisingly luminous thanks to a number of glass openings, it integrates archeological ruins and new interventions: six Roman limestone pillars are reflected in the water of the main pool, while a pink limestone staircase brings ups to two antique basins; the former Roman tanks host the massage center and the hammam. Museum and thermal station at once, the Spa Museum knows no equals.
NUN Assisi Relais & Spa Museum draws a perfect balance of past and present. It offers a peaceful and placid hideaway in an extraordinary city, bringing guests, for a few days or just a few hours, away from the maddening crowd.
NUN is the promise of a regenerating experience of spiritual beauty.
Because there is no beauty without peace, and no present without past.
