Palazzo Loup (formerly Villa delle Fratte) is an 18th century dwelling located in Scanello (Loiano), 30 km away from Bologna city center. This historical hotel of simple and elegant design is nestled within ancient parkland.
During the last century, Villa delle Fratte belonged to Pio Ghisileri and then to Monsieur Luis Loup - a Swiss nobleman who was enchanted by Bologna and its countryside. He married the daughter of Mr Ghisilieri receiving the Villa as a dowry. Since 1800, Palazzo Loup has seen several historical events.
In May 1805, Pope Pio VII stopped at the hotel on his way back from Paris after crowning Napoleon I. On the 28th of September 1859, Bettino Riccasoli, Carlo Luigi Farini, Lionello Cipriani, Marco Minghetti and Rodolfo Audinot gathered at Palazzo Loup to agree upon the abolition of custom barriers in Toscana, Romagna, Modena and Parma after their liberation from Austria.
Today, Palazzo Loup has 49 bedrooms and various areas for relaxation - an enchanting place plunged into unspoilt natural beauty.
