WHAT YOU CAN SEE NEARBY
The Franciacorta
has been devoted to winegrowing since ancient times, so you can't miss visiting one of its several wine cellars situated in a lot of villages of this area. Or you could even follow a historic and artistic itinerary, visiting old Cluniac monasteries, such as the Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa in the village of Provaglio d'Iseo, the Abbey of San Nicola in Rodengo Saiano, where it is possible to admire a lot of masterpieces, frescoes, mosaics and paintings.
The Iseo Lake
Historical sites which are worthy of a visit in the beautiful small town of Iseo are the Pieve of Sant'Andrea (XII century), with its typical bell tower (XIV century) and the Castle of the Oldofredi family, where a lot of cultural happenings are held. From the turist port in Iseo you can easily reach the three isles of the lake by ferry boat: Monteisola, the biggest lake isle in Europe, dominated by the Martinengo Fortress, and the other two smaller isles, San Paolo and Loreto. By ferry you can also reach the coast of the other province, where in few places the cliff falls sheer to the lake, offering a striking view.
