Small and romantic, Hotel La Certosa is located in an ancient monastery dating from the fifteenth century, by the beach in Marina del Cantone. The hotel was recently renovated, however the original structure of the monastery was maintained. It is characterized by two large arches on the facade and original windows on the upper floor. Ideal for couples, Hotel La Certosa is also an ideal solution for families who wish to have a holiday surrounded by calm. The sea is just a few meters away and gives a friendly, Mediterranean air to Certosa, which welcomes its guests with the best comforts of a 3 star hotel, if you seek a relaxing holiday and good food. The common areas with ancient barrel vaults, exposed beams and colorful ceramics are all overlooking the sea: the hall, the restaurant with its beautiful terrace where you can taste delicious food and enjoy a mild climate all year round, something which is highly appreciated by Certosa's international clientele.
Breakfast is served in the inside hall. The terrace, with its charming view of the bay, is an ideal location for some pleasant relaxation while sipping a drink or having a snack in the fully equipped bar. Three steps away and you are on the beach with little pebbles, where reserved umbrellas and lounges await Certosa's guests for a very pleasant day of sunbathing and swimming. For those of you who wish to discover the beautiful surroundings of Marina del Cantone, the pedestrian paths to Punta Campanella park and the Leranto Bay start in Nerano, the area behind Marina; buses for Massa Lubrense and Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi leave the square in Marina del Cantone, just 50 meters from the hotel, where clients can also park their cars.
The 16 rooms of Hotel La Certosa are in typical Mediterranean style, with all essential comforts. The colors of the furniture and finishings are in traditional white and blue, present also in the fabrics and bathrooms. The rooms are all large and bright, the majority of which offer a splendid view over the picturesque bay of Marina del Cantone and a comfortable small terrace with a deck chair. This is an ideal place to relax after a day at the beach, spent in the bathing establishments, sunbathing and diving or following a natural or cultural itinerary. You can choose from the single, twin, double and triple rooms. Quadruple rooms are also available, which are ideal for families. The hotel offers the best comforts proposed by a 3 star hotel in Massa Lubrense: air conditioning, satellite TV and direct telephone. Some rooms have private bathrooms, enriched with typical, colored ceramics from the Sorrento Peninsula, making the hotel even more comfortable thanks to the showers and hairdryers available.
Just three steps and you are on the beach. Guests can avail of umbrellas and loungers in the areas conveniently reserved for the hotel, to spend very pleasant days by the sea. Nerano Bay is enchanting: crystal clear water, thanks also to the pebble beach and the rocky bed, ideal for bathing, snorkeling and diving.
Hotel La Certosa's gem is most definitely its restaurant, in a natural, extraordinary setting. The restaurant is enriched with carefully prepared dishes under the direction of the hotel's proprietors and Luisa and Rosiris who prepare traditional dishes with the freshest of aromas and flavors from both the land and sea around the Sorrento Peninsula.
Fish is our specialty, which is always of the freshest quality, raw to allow you to sample the thousand tastes of the sea, traditionally grilled or in really tasty soup, a house specialty. But the recipe that made the hotel and our restaurant renowned over Italy is Spaghetti with Zucchini, with season vegetables fried in olive oil, flavored with basil and parmesan, all mixed with Caciocavallo: really delicious!
Our cellar is as good as our kitchen and offers DOC wines from the Sorrento Peninsula including the whites Capri, Costa d'Amalfi and Penisola Sorrentina, which is more appreciated and renowned in its red and natural sparkling version and other important wines from Campania: the DOCG Fiano and Greco, the DOC Falanghina and DOC Aglianico.
