Description

This is the story of a heart-felt passion for vine cultivation. This is the result of the constant daily effort and dedication of people who have firmly believed in their work for over 40 years. Thanks to the initiative of 19 farmers, Colonnara was founded in Cupramontana in 1959. The ideal microclimate of the sweet hills of the Marches region lead to the cultivation of Verdicchio, which has become the pride of this territory over the centuries.

This company has grown over time. Today it has over 190 associates and thanks to the use of innovative technology and the practice of environmentally friendly farming, it has managed to develop a production range that may be singled out among high quality wines, which are distributed over the entire national and foreign territory. But Colonnara has not forgotten its roots, its link to farming traditions. Around here they say wine is made in the vineyard, it is only educated in the cellar and then "presented' in the best possible way in the bottle. This company has embraced this precious value that links it to its origins. The flavour of tradition, in fact, accompanies it throughout the entire vinifcation process. From the constant care taken in looking after the vines, to the ageing cellar, to the attention paid to the bottles that enrich our table. A real hymn to the quality of wine.

Noble wines are not produced by chance, they are always the result of a perfect combination of ideas and values that identify the company's mission:

To make the most of the wines of our area and our territory, which are characterised by the peculiarities that make them unique.

Constant research on the utmost quality of the wines, beginning from a harmonious integration of the characteristics of the territory and a series of rigorous choices, such as the absolute respect for the natural equilibrium during vine cultivation and the application of traditional vinifcation systems as a guarantee of the 100% genuine nature of the product.

The precious patrimony of human resources, consisting of a group of collaborators who, apart from being extremely dedicated to their work also actively participate, with a constructive spirit, in company life. It is thanks to their know-how that successful initiatives come about.

The desire to enrich the range of products, even with those from other regions while always ensuring that they meet the standards of Colonnara, in order to fulfil the needs of all of our clients.

These strong, precious values constitute the inspiration for the Colonnara philosophy: a perfect synthesis between tradition, research regarding quality and passion for our work.

The Colonnara vineyards, which cover an overall surface area of 260 hectares and which are managed by a team of 190 associates, are situated in the oldest Verdicchio grape production area.

The microclimate, which varies from area to area along with the different altitudes of the vineyards, which range from 350 to 650 metres above sea level, and the distinct composition of the soil, all represent aspects of the company patrimony, which are unrepeatable in any other zone.

It is thanks to this patrimony that Colonnara manages to produce sparkling wines, fresh young wines and more full-bodied and noble wines for ageing from the autochthonous Verdicchio grape.

The Colonnara wines, the vineyards of which are situated on the right hand of the Esino River, are mostly influenced by the proximity of the Apennines. Therefore certain varieties of the product are to be singled out for their elegance and freshness while the ageing cellar continues its work on the more full-bodied reserve wines.

Colonnara wines are the fruit of a perfect blend of various different elements: the territory, the microclimate and the workmanship. Around here in fact, they say that wine is made in the vineyard and it is only educated in the cellar, before then being presented in the bottle in the best possible manner.

From this point of view, Colonnara offers an example of extremely high quality. Its three ranges of wine: noble wines, classic wines and modern wines - represent the ideal "stages" in a "journey" towards pleasure.

The extension work carried out within the company in 1989 lead to the construction of the ageing cellar, or so-called "caveau": a large underground room where wines and sparkling wines can mature the necessary characteristics for their "class" in a suitable microclimate.

A veritable "dwelling place of quality" as the national press reported at the time: "The philosophy that governs the strategy of this co-operative is disarming, focusing exclusively on the quality objective".

The Colonnara cellar is the ideal place to "celebrate" the ritual of wine tasting, which is a much-loved practice for all those who appreciate good wine. A pleasant encounter with flavour, within the context of an excellent occasion to raise your glasses to hospitality and quality.

From among the classic wines you can begin by allowing yourself to be seduced by the Verdicchio Classico: this fresh and fruity wine is an excellent accompaniment for seafood dishes. You will be surprised at the Rosso Piceno, produced from Sangiovese and Montepulciano grapes coming from the characteristic hills of the Marches Region. You will feel attracted by the Portonovo, a slightly sparkling white, which is fresh and fruity, and by Bersò, a sparkling white made from Verdicchio and Trebbiano grapes and fermented in autoclaves according to the charmat method.

This pleasant journey towards pleasure proceeds with the range of noble wines. You will be able to discover Cuprese; the most classical example of our wines, obtained from the vineyards located in the most suitable zones. You will be enraptured by the special reserve wines such as the Romitello delle Mandriole, which is produced from an accurate selection of Verdicchio grapes fermented in new casks made of French oak and Tufico, which is the fruit of special attention to the vineyard of the Follonica district, in the commune of Cupramontana. With great pleasure then you will sample the Vigna San Marco, which is the fruit of accurate management of the vineyard situated in the district bearing the same name. The goodness of Sanctorum, a raisin wine will also win you over. This is an elegant and complex wine with hints of candied fruit, apricot and dried fruit jam.

You will most certainly appreciate Tornamagno, a wine of great substance and personality, the woody notes of which distinguish it without disguising its original bouquet and its flavour of red fruits, and then there is Horus, a Rosso Conero whose name evokes the same sun that fertilises the hills of the Conero giving warmth and colour to these vineyards, producing a robust, full-bodied wine with a strong personality. You will make friends with Class, a dry/sweet sparkling wine that delicately liberates pleasant bouquets of musk. To conclude this experience in style, you will raise your glasses with Colonnara Brut, in the charmat or classic method version, which are both supreme examples of sparkling wine production using the best selections of verdicchio grapes. To conclude in style you will toast with Colonnara Brut, in the charmat or metodo classico version, or with the newest addition to our range - Ubaldo Rosi, a metodo classico Brut reserve.

This is a sublime example of the sparkling wine production method using the best selections of Verdicchio grapes.

Lastly, we cannot forget two other products of absolute quality, the Verdicchio eau-de-vie, a classy distilled wine, with a characteristic taste and a soft flavour, and the "La Romita" extra virgin olive oil.
