Is a poetic imagery of Albino Piona, of a family that cultivated lives and produces wine in the same heart of the zone of the Custoza from first of l'unità d'Italia. Albino, "craftsman of the wine" how it is defined he, the its "managers", its wines step follows them personally I go, how long break the first buds of the lives, to the vintage, to the winemaking, all' bottling.
Everything with large respect of the tradition tramandatagli from its old persons, but with a costing eye to the last technologies and to the possible enhancement across the technologies it. A' further feature of the technology of Albino consists in the selection of the grapes, strictly done in the vineyard, to obtain the better than every product.
With its wealth of history and tourist itineraries relating to wine, at the epicentre of the production area for Bianco di Custoza D.O.C. and alongside the production area for Bardolino D.O.C., we find the headquarters of the Piona vineyard. It was founded in 1893 at the site known as "Bellavista", at the highest point in the hills of Custoza, offering a broad panorama over the surrounding area and the Po valley.
Within the 77 hectares of vines making up the family firm, the new specialist "Cà Palazzina" vineyard is to be found, located in an area particularly suitable for wine-making, on the morainic hills which form a ring around the hinterland of Lake Garda.
Here the natural characteristics of D.O.C. Garda wines using a single grape variety integrate perfectly with the climate and terrain of the estate, to offer a wealth of body, aroma and refinement; research in the vineyard combines with a consolidated heritage to create alternatives to traditional forms.
For no less than four generations, opening a bottle of wine in the cellars of the Piona vineyard has been like uncorking history, the wine being transformed into a pleasant narrator of battles which have been won, in the vineyard and in the bottle.
Albino and Dolores, together with their sons Silvio, Alessandro and Massimo, have carefully co-ordinated and well-defined roles within the firm and follow every step in the production of their wine, from the sprouting of the first shoots on the vines, to grape-picking, vinification, bottling, distribution and sale of the final product.
This all takes place with the greatest respect for the ancient traditions handed down by their predecessors, but with an eye for the latest innovations and for the improvements made possible using the most modern technology
