The Laceno plateau

Surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Monti Picentini National Park, which stretches between the provinces of Salerno and Avellino, the Laceno plateau is located at about 1000 m above sea level, in the homonymous village of the town of Bagnoli Irpino. It is characterised by a really interesting natural heritage, that includes the impressive Caliendo Cave (a series of karst caves with streams and small waterfalls ending in an underground lake, with stalactites and stalagmites), the Laceno Lake (fed by the Tronnola river) and the suggestive peaks of Cervialto Mount (1809 m, the highest one of the Picentini Mounts), Raiamagra Mount (1667 m), Cervarolo Mount (1600 m), Montagna Grande (1509 m) and Pisacca Mount (1470 m).
The Laceno plateau is a popular winter tourism location: a modern ski resort with ski-lifts and well equipped ski slopes are there. Moreover, the numerous mountain paths, forests rich in wildlife and the untouched nature make this an ideal place for lovers of trekking and mountain biking. The presences of stables, green areas, tennis and soccer grounds allow you to enjoy Laceno all periods of the year.
Finally it will be a very interesting experience the visit to the Tannera torrent, especially in spring, where the small fire salamander has found its ideal habitat, between sources, river crossings and waterfalls.
