Description

Telgate is a town in the province of Bergamo, already known in Roman times, due to its position along the road between Milan and Brescia. It was mentioned for the first time in a document of 830, which mentioned the town's churches.
The most important historical and political eventis of the area happened in the churches of the Bergamo's area, as the signing of peace treaties between the opposing factions of Bergamo and Brescia.
The Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista, built in the XV century and totally rebuilt two centuries later, with valuable works by Gian Paolo Cavagna and a choir by Andrea Fantoni, the Church of San Giuliano, dating back to the XIII century, Villa Marenzi-Bonetti, with a large garden and XIX century frescoes, and Villa Agosti-Ferrari, now an oratory, worth a visit.
