Description

Among the most credible hypothesis, about the origins of the town's name, worthy of mention is the one that attests its genesis in the Latin word "Robus" (blackberry).
Municipality in the province of Padua, located in part on the Mount of the Madonna and partly on the plain, bordering the territory of Vicenza. From its privileged location, it is possible to admire a splendid panorama that stretches from the foothills Berici to the Pre-Alps. Famous is the large park of Frassanelle with its golf course.
The first inhabitants of the area were most likely of the Euganean origins, later, followed by the Greeks and by the Veneti, who co-inhabited with the local populations. Colonized by the Romans, the area developed thanks to the construction of a network of roads that allowed them to control the entire Po Valley. After the Fall of the Empire, the entire region submitted a period of decline coinciding with the Barbarian invasions.
In the XIII century, the Lords Padovani built, here, a castle to protect their borders from attacks by their enemies of Vicenza. The building was destroyed by the Della Scala in a later period. Then Rovolon submitted the juridiction of the Bishops of Padua, who granted the lands to the monks of Santa Giustina around year 1000. The monks, together with the local inhabitant started a period of land reclamation from the marshes: making fertile the farmlands and introducing the growth of new crops. Subsequently the town shared the same historical events that affected the entire region under the Venetian rule, the Napoleonic domain and the Habsburg Empire.

Not to miss:
- the Church of St. Peter Carbonara, dating to the XI century, features classical forms. The façade is enriched by two pairs of columns that rest on large bases and are attached to a box-shaped pediment on which are placed three statues. The Bell Tower, located a short distance, based on a truncated pyramid is surmounted by a tympanum and a spire;
- the Church of San Giorgio, cited since 1077, but built in a much earlier era, features a valuable series of XV century frescoes in the apse;
- the Church of the Immaculate Conception;
- the Sanctuary of Monte Madonna;
- the Church of Bastia;
- the XIX century Villa Papafava in Bastia, surrounded by a forest;
- the XVII century Villa Barbarigo in Bastia, which features an earlier prepared XVI century lodge;
- the late XVII century Villa Priuli;
- the XV century Casa Ottavia;
- the XVII century Palazzo Lion;
- the XV century Colombara;
- Villa Barbaro in Bastia;
- Villa Da Rio-Soranzo.
