Polla is a town in the Province of Salerno, at the south of Vallo di Diano, between the Alburni and Maddalena mountain ranges.
Prior to the year 1000 the territory was inhabited by shepherds, who left traces of their passage in caves, where human and animal remains have been found. This territory was occupied during the centuries first by the Lucans and then by the Romans; subsequently the population moved to the hills, where the Castrum Pollae was built, due to the Saracen invasions.
The Convent of the Poor Clare Sisters, now the town hall, is of great artistic interest and well-equipped for its current function.
