Olbia is situated in a wide natural gulf, between the isles of Tavolara and Molara, and it is known as "the door" of the Emerald coast, in Sardinia region.The first human settlements date back to the Neolithic Age (4000 b.C.) and during the Bronze Age the civilization of the nuraghi spread all over the area. There are about 50 nuraghi in the surroundings of Olbia, as for example "Pozzo Sacro di Sa Testa", the collective grave of "Su Monte 'e s'Abe" and "Riu Mulinu" nuraghe at Cabu Abbas.In addition to the nuraghi, the ruins of the Punic walls and the ruins of the Roman aqueduct and forum are clearly visible.Do not forget to visit the Romanesque former Cathedral of San Simplicio, the Castle of Sa Paulazza, the Medieval Castle of Pedres, the Church of St. Paul, the Municipality building, in liberty style, Villa Tamponi, in Neoclassic style, the National Archaeological Museum and the Theater on the Olbia's gulf.
