Description

Mozzo is a town in the province of Bergamo, set 5km far from the provincial capital as a semicircle over the hills of Bergamo. Archaeological finds reveal that the area was inhabited since the Bronge Age. However it was mentioned for the first time in a document of 985, preserved in the archives of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan.
The place name probably derives from a fund given by the Roman consul to Mucio or Mutio.
The parish church of San Giovanni Battista, once dedicated to San Salvatore, preserves on the oldest church (demolished to built a larger church) only the bell-tower.
There area also many interesting villas, built between the XVIII and the XIX century, and owned by noble families from Bergamo.
