The ancient fortified town of Alanno, in the province of Pescara, is set in the very heart of the valley of the Pescara river. Remains of pre-romanesque settlements have been found in the hamlet of Oratorio and Collegrande. It was mentioned for the first time in the "Chronicon Cesauriense". Fief of the Leognani-Fieramosca family, the town is characterized by a typical medieval appearance, with picturesque small streets (called le rue).To visit:- the remains of the bastions of both the town walls and of the Fieramosca castle;- the Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie, built between the XV and the XVII century in Baroque style. Inside it is possible to admire valuable works of art, such as a precious triptych set in the altar and frescoes from De Litio's school;- the Church of San Francesco, in the ancient convent converted in High School during the XIX century;- the Oasis of Alanno, managed by WWF, with beautiful paths along the river Pescara and the opportunity to see many species of migratory birds and a very interesting river vegetation.
