Apulia, also defined as "the heel of Italy" is the region of the harmony between natural beauties and an unique artistic heritage. It is the land where a crystal-clear sea penetrates into ancient maritime grottoes inhabited by the prehistoric man who also left traces of his passage with menhir and dolmen. It is the land where the artistic stream, known as Romanesque-Apulian style, flourished (the Cathedrals of Bari, Trani and Bitonto - to name a few - are mirable example of this artistic style); it is also the land where a particular declination of the Baroque style, known as "Lecce Baroque", developed with its sinuous forms and spectacular scenographic effect. Two famous monuments have been declared by UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the characteristic trulloes of Alberobello and the Castel del Monte, with its unmistakable octagonal shape. Here you can also find cave churches, museums rich in testimonies of the people who have succeeded in this Italian region, folklore, gastronomic traditions and a deep sense of religiosity (the Church dedicated to San Pio from Pietrelcina, designed by Renzo Piano, is located in San Giovanni Rotondo).Apulia: a land to visit, discover...live!We will complete the translation of all Apulian towns as soon as possible!
