The "Associazione Trombonieri, Sbandieratori and Cavalieri di Cava De' Tirreni" (Salerno) is thrilled to announce two new unique events for this Summer 2009.
The events will take place in Cava De' Tirreni on Saturday 27th of June ( 9 pm) with the Historic Evoking of "La Città de La Cava - between history and legend" in Piazza Giovanni Nicotera ( Piazza San Francesco) and on Sunday 5th of July (7.30 pm ) with the "Disfida dei Trombonieri" at the "Simonetta Lamberti" stadium in Cava de' Tirreni.

The first event is an historic theatre representation directed by Gaetano Stella, recalling the 1460's events of the Battle of Sarno, with the brave fight of the Cava soldiers ( "Armigieri Cavesi" ) and the special gift of a white papyrus from King Ferdinando to the locals. According to the legend, the king offered this papyrus in order to give voice to kind of request coming from the local population, as a thanksgiving sign.

The "Disfida dei Trombonieri" can be considered the main traditional event of the Summer in Cava and is held at the "Simonetta Lamberti Stadium" where the eight ATSC "Casali Trombonieri" will challenge themselves in spectacular choreographies with typical flags and shots.
The winner will be awarded with the reproduction of the famous white papyrus and the winner drape.

This year these events are sponsored by the European Parliament which have acknowledged the Historic Evoking and the "Disfida dei Trombonieri" as an important happening to promote and exploit the local culture. But the real news for the 2009 is the special offer for tourist package in order to fully enjoy the whole set of events: nice stay in hotels in Paestum and Cava de' Tirreni and special discounts in the local shops.

Another innovation regards the brand new "Pergamena in bianco" advertising campaign created by MTN Company to promote the local region, the history and the folklore in Cava de' Tirreni.
This year the white papyrus campaign will cover not just Cava and Salerno but also the Amalfi Coast, where the "Pergamena" will be donated and everyone will be able to write ideas and suggestions for the city, participating to a special creative competition. The best ten wishes will be awarded with VIP seats to watch the events scheduled.
