Catania - Costants of Classical in Twentieth and Twenty-first Century Art

February 22, 2009 - June 29, 2009

Catania

The exhibition wants to show the transversal quality of the concept of "classic" by displaying about 100 works, undisputed masterpieces from prestigious museums, foundations and private collections by the most significant artists throughout
the ages in Italy and abroad. Placing side by side works by such different artists, not only as regards their age and homeland,
creates an interesting exhibition where the visitor is invited to actively look at the works with a "critical eye", sometimes
reflectively, sometimes in pure contemplation.
Exhibited works of: Accardi, Agnetti, Albers, Anselmo, Arp, Bagnoli, Bassiri, Beuys, Boetti, Buren, Burri, Calzolari, Castellani, Colla, Dadamaino, de Chirico, Degas, Dibbets, Duchamp, Esposito, Fabro, Fontana, Giacometti, Horn, Jedlicka, Kandinskij, Klein, Kounellis, LeWitt, Lo Savio, Long, Malevic, Manuelli, Manzoni, Mapplethorpe, Martini, Matisse, Mattiacci, Melotti, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Messina, Mondrian, Moore, Morandi, Morris, Nagasawa, Nigro, Nunzio, Nuvolo, Opalka, Paladino, Paolini, Parmiggiani, Penone, Picasso, Pistoletto, Plensa, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Popova, Ranaldi, Ray, Richter, Rosso, Rothko, Salvadori, Savinio, Sironi, Spalletti, Tirelli, Uncini, Vercruysse.
